GUIDED TOURS – Corporations, schools, alumni associations -- you name it!
PISCATAWAY CREEK
Marsh Loop - $55 per person
Explore Piscataway Creek and a tidal freshwater marsh as you gain basic kayaking skills along the way. We often see bald eagles, osprey, great blue heron, beaver, and sometimes river otter on this three-hour adventure.
Beach Exploration - $55 per person
A three-hour adventure gives everyone plenty of time to land on a beach to look for minnows, sharks teeth, and more! The beaches offer good observation points for eagles and osprey as well. Kids love this one.
Fort Washington or Piscataway National Park - $85 per person
This five-hour adventure takes you to the Potomac River for beautiful views of Mount Vernon and a side trip to explore historic Fort Washington, with beautiful views of the river, or Piscataway National Park, with a stroll along the marsh boardwalk and a visit to a Piscataway Indian cultural site. Either trip usually runs from 10 am to 3 pm, with lunch on shore (not included, but we can arrange).
OTHER LOCATIONS
We also offer private trips on the Patuxent, Potomac, and Rappahannock Rivers, the Chesapeake Bay, and Assateague. Overnight trips can include camping, cabins or bed & breakfast inns. Please call or email to discuss possibilities.
TEAM BUILDING
Kayaking in tandems (two people per boat) is a team building exercise in itself, but we’ve found that adding games and races to the experience brings out the fun in everyone and makes for a terrific bonding experience.
We use very stable tandem kayaks for team building. This makes it easy for everyone to do – they’re stable, the boats are roomy, so anyone can fit, and you’re sharing the boat with a colleague, so moral support is right at hand.
Three-Hour Adventure - $60 per person
Three hours will allow you to do the marsh loop as you learn to kayak and play games along the way. You’ll see lots of birds, typically including bald eagles, osprey, and great blue heron, beaver lodges and perhaps the beavers themselves, turtles, and other wildlife.
Five-Hour Adventure - $90 per person
Five hours will allow you to kayak Piscataway Creek to the Potomac River with beautiful views of Mount Vernon and a choice of landing either at Fort Washington National Park (hike to a historic fort) or Piscataway National Park (walk along boardwalk and visit Piscataway Indian cultural site). Lunch is on shore (not included, but we can help arrange).
Games and Races
The games and races are custom-tailored for each group. Some love to get wet and go for a swim; others prefer a more tame experience. Just let us know, and we’ll adjust as we go along. Our favorite games include: racing rafts of boats with some kayakers standing up in the boats; javelin (paddle) toss race; tug of war; and musical boats.
BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Try something different for your birthday. It’s lots of fun, and anyone can do it. Our birthday parties are popular for kids and adults alike! What a great way to share your special day.
Location
Birthday parties are held at our Piscataway Kayak Center, located right on the water on Piscataway Creek. There is very little to no motor boat traffic, and the wildlife is terrific. We often see bald eagles, osprey, great blue heron, beaver, and sometimes river otter. If history is your passion, we can take you to Fort Washington or to a Piscataway Indian site.
Rates (for tandem kayaks)
1 ½ hours - $25 per person
2 hours - $35 per person
2 ½ hours - $45 per person

SCOUT AND OTHER YOUTH GROUPS
All kayaking programs, unless otherwise requested, depart from our Kayak Center, on Piscataway Creek, a protected, scenic, wildlife-filled tributary of the Potomac River in Maryland across from Mount Vernon. We are about 15 minutes from Alexandria and Washington, DC. Our programs will provide the skills and experiences needed to earn many badges and patches. Just let us know your goals, and we will help you accomplish them.

TESTIMONIALS - what people are saying unsolicited:
Thanks so much
for working with our group on July 20th. It was a
perfect night and beautiful sunset/moonrise!! Our
guide was great for the group. She was able to adapt
our trip for our needs -- a few minutes out for a
swim and splash session. A few of the girls in our
group had never been kayaking and had so much fun!
I was happy to see them all smiles when they got out of
the boat. I personally was so happy to be on the water
instead of at the very hot baseball game (the other activity
for the evening). Thanks again!!
Just wanted to
say thanks for an excellent event. Your guides were
awesome, the weather cooperated, and the club had a great
time. I've been wanting to kayak on the Potomac since
I moved out here in '99. It was everything I had hoped
it would be.
If there is a
better way to spend a weekend, I haven't found it.
You made our trip a perfect mix of adventure, instruction
and fun. Six (tired but happy) men have found a great
way to stay in shape, enjoy nature and master a terrific
sport. We can't thank you enough.
Thank you very
much for the wonderful kayak experience on Saturday -- everyone
had a great time!
