PISCATAWAY CREEK OPTIONS

We launch open-cockpit double kayaks from our private kayak center located less than 20 minutes from National Harbor and about 30 minutes from Washington, DC, and Alexandria, Virginia.  There is easy parking for buses and a lovely law overlooking Piscataway Bay -- a great place for relaxing with refreshments (catering available).  Groups of 10 to 60, ages 5 and up.

Marsh Loop Eco Tour - $50 per person for 3 hours or $45 for 2 1/2 hours

Marsh Loop Eco-Tour - 3 hours - $500 for up to 10 people.  $50 for each additional person.  Maximum 60.
Atlantic Kayak guides specialize in taking groups for fun, relaxing and informative eco-friendly kayaking trips on Piscataway Creek, a freshwater tidal tributary of the Potomac River. Your group will start out in a bay-like environment where eagles and osprey hunt for fish, then make their way through winding channels surrounded by water lilies, cattails and wild rice, enjoy close-up views of beaver lodges, and then entering an even narrower creek that is heavily shaded by a canopy of trees loaded with forest birds.  We often see great blue heron, osprey, bald eagles, baver and turtles, as well as many smaller birds.

Teambuilding - games, races & lots of fun.  $50 per person for 3 hours.

Games & Races - 3 hours - $500 for up to 10 people; $50 for each additional person.  Maximum 60.
Our experienced guides will teach you the necessary kayaking skills while adding safe and entertaining challenges that are fun for everyone. Paddle-toss races, tug-of-wars, stand-up chariot races, musical boats and multiple-kayak racing “rafts” are some of the favorites that will help participants become proficient in forward, reverse, turning, side-stroke and stopping maneuvers.

Heritage Tour on the Captain John Smith Trail - $45 per person for 2 1/2 hours

Heritage Tour - 2 ½ hours - $450 for up to 10 people.  $45 for each additional person.  Maximum 60.
This tour will take you along the shores of Piscataway Bay to Mockley Point, where the creek opens into the Potomac River for magestic views of Mount Vernon and Fort Washington. Gaze up the Potomac for a view of the Washington Monument.  Captain John Smith first met the Piscataway Indians on Piscataway Creek in the early 1600s.   It's easy to imagine what life was like in this area hundreds of years ago!  This tour offers a good chance of close-up views of adult and juvenile bald eagles.

COLUMBIA ISLAND MARINA - Monuments & Bridges of Washington, DC - $60 per person

Picture
Monuments Tour - 3 hours - $600 for up to 10 people.  $60 for each additional person.  We use tandem kayaks for this tour.
What a different way to see Washington, DC.  Kayak under the Memorial Bridge and others where you can see the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, Kennedy Center, and lots more!  Of course one of tours wouldn't be complete without a slice of nature, so we'll paddle to Roosevelt Island, a nature sanctuary, where we sometimes see wood ducks, night herons and other birds, along with freshwater marsh plants.  A great trip for locals and visitors alike.  We meet at the Columbia Island Marina for this tour.
