Youth Groups - fun, meaningful outdoor experiences for 10 to 60 participants - at your convenience

Picture
Our youth programs provide fun, engaging, educational experiences. Students will learn the basics of kayaking in stable, tandem kayaks as they immerse themselves in nature and history.

DC Monuments (2.5 hours)
What better way to see and appreciate DC than to kayak through history!  We launch near the Pentagon, kayak under the Memorial Bridge with views of the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Kennedy Center and Watergate.  Then we'll paddle to Roosevelt Island, now a wildlife sanctuary and at one time home to African American soldiers during the Civil War, and enjoy views of  the Francis Scott Key Bridge.  Each turn reveals a fascinating bit of history that keeps participants engaged and enthusiastic for every minute of this memorable trip!  Youth Group Rate: $50 per person

Piscataway Creek, MD - Eagles on the Captain John Smith Water Trail (2 to 2.5 hours)

Picture
Paddle the same route Captain John Smith traveled in 1608 as he mapped out Native American villages along the
way, and see Mount Vernon from the water as people did when the Potomac River was critical for navigation and commerce.  You can even see the Washington Monument off in the distance!  You are likely to see see bald eagles, osprey, great blue heron, and lots of other wildlife on this route as well.  A great combination of nature and history!
Youth Group Rate:  2.0 hours - $30 per person; 2.5 hours - $40 per person

Piscataway Creek, MD - Eco Exploration of a Tidal Freshwater Creek and Marsh  (2.5 - 3 hours)

Students will explore Piscataway Creek and its diverse creek and marsh ecosystems.  If desired, we can bring nets so that students can collect and identify invertebrates and fish.  Hands-on experience with nature -- plan on the participants getting wet and muddy!
Youth Group Rate:  $40 per person

Dyke Marsh, Alexandria, Virginia - Potomac River (2.5 hours)

Picture

Explore the Potomac River near Alexandria, Virginia, with expansive views of the River.  Depending on the season (if the marsh wrens and least bitterns are not nesting on the islands), we may explore the coves and inlets of Dyke Marsh.
Youth Group Rate:  2.5 hours - $50 per person
